Developers URGE Development Group, N’Namdi Holdings LLC and Hosey Development broke ground in December 2021 on a project that will create 38 units of affordable housing in the Live 6 neighborhood. Affordability will be based on 60-80% Area Median Income, featuring eight studios, 17 one-bedroom units and 13 two-bedroom units. The development will also include more than 6,000 square feet of retail space available at reduced rates for small business owners. The project, named after Detroit artist Tylonn Sawyer, totals $10.8 million. The project is Black-led and helmed by developers Roderick Hardamon, George R. N’Namdi and Richard Hosey. They are planning to complete construction by 2023.
