What's happening?

Detroit City Council approved the sale of the vacant former Detroit Water and Sewerage Department building to George Jackson's Ventra Group LLC in 2017. The $33 million million project, branded The Mosaic, is meant to house Eastern Market Corp.’s food entrepreneur accelerator, and a food hall with a rooftop bar was announced as its first tenant in 2022. Project plans call for a flex commercial space, an events space and a solar array on the roof. In 2020, the project was approved for $3.7 million in local and state brownfield tax capture. The project was initially expected to open in 2018 and in early 2022 had a target opening date of 2024.
