The Moroun family's Crown Enterprises purchased the 40-plus-acre shopping center complex at 8 Mile and Van Dyke, home to the Bel Air Luxury Cinema movie theater, in 2019. Crown said at the time that the site would be repurposed and would not include retail, with occupancy then less than 50%. In 2020, Crown Enterprises presented a demolition proposal at a City Planning Commission meeting.
