What's happening?

In 2021, Bedrock purchased eight Stroh family properties in the East Riverfront area clustered near Robert C. Valade park, and about a half mile from another eight parcels purchased in 2019. The properties include parking lots, rights in a portion of a parking deck, 4.4 acres of developable land and Stroh River Place at 300 River Pl. Existing tenants of the partially-occupied Stroh River Place include the Rattlesnake Club restaurant, the Associated Press and Belle Isle Conservancy; they will retain their leases. Other parcels include: 2925 and 2743 Wight St.; 2748 Franklin St.; 2615, 2655 and 2680 Atwater St.; and 147 Jos Campau Ave.

It's unclear how the vacant land will be used, though Bedrock CEO Kofi Bonner said in a statement reported by Crain's Detroit Business that "a future riverfront should be more pedestrian and transit friendly with a low carbon footprint, with more parks, plazas, entertainment and mixed-income residential."
